I'm not sure what has happened to the weather today but in truth there is a part of me that isn't disappointed not to be getting my legs out this week. I've managed to pick up a cold (in June!?) and have been feeling pretty sorry for myself all week, bleurgh. We move house on Monday and having cleared out all my cupboards (I've been threatened with being allowed 15 pairs of shoes, he has no idea where I'm hiding them) I found these, my white jeans. I wore them when out in Chelsea for the flower show last week...

White denim gets a lot of stick. There was a time that it was thought you had to be a teeny, tiny size to be able to wear them. I go through phases of love vs hate (I worry about looking too K-Middy, not helped by her Breton-wearing-ways most recently) but at the moment I'm finding them perfect to wear with shirts and tees. Mine are from Paige Denim (my go-to denim brand) here, but if you havent tried the look before I'd recommend testing out a cheaper pair - these ASOS ones are very good - or try a "boyfriend style," I have these.

My shirt is an oldie but a goodie from Zara here. Khaki shirts are my favourite thing at the moment, I'm having to stop myself from buying this one from Topshop and maaaaay have slipped up and acquired this cross front one from Equipment (blog post to come). They go with everything, in particular all my denim for summer and also look great under a dark coloured jacket (this Reiss one is firmly on my wishlist, really hoping it goes into sale) for evening looks...

My shoes are from LK Bennett here and I'm in love with them. They're the "Floret" shape that I've been wearing for years and (apologies to long time readers of the blog) are in my humble opinion the best heel on the market. I have little feet so heels are tricky as they stretch my arches more than somebody with regular sized hooves. Therefore heels are uncomfortable and I can't usually wear them for more than a few hours. However, these ones are the best (I can do a whole day and night in them, easily) and here is a link to the entire range. I picked these ones because I want to wear them with a little red dress to one of the weddings this summer, but I couldn't wait and they seemed fitting for the flower show!

Other bits and pieces include the bag (a long awaited Vestiaire Collective purchase, I kept an eye on the site for months) from Louis Vuitton which I'm so pleased with - somehow is being second hand also makes me less shy about wearing it all the time, I'm not as worried about scratching it etc... The sunnies are new from Fendi, I went to see them last week and picked up a few pairs for Italy, so excited. Just a house move to get out of the way, and then we're off!

I have some news! We have a new home! It's going to take a while, but as of June 2016 the boy and I are residents of NW3, Hampstead. We'd been looking for ages, initially at Notting Hill, but an estate agent called us about one particular property and I knew it straight away! We went to see it last week (how we found the time given all we've got going on) and made an offer straight away. I can't wait to get in there, get furnishing and getting creative with the space.

On Sunday after a hospital appointment (not the greatest start to the day; having a drip in your arm putting burning hot solution into your body whilst sitting inside a machine...) we decided to make the most of the sunshine and explore our new area. I say "new," but actually I know Hampstead pretty well - my parents live close by and I had my first weekend job on the high street, smoked my first cigarette on the bench opposite my new home (weird) and went on my first date in the Carluccio's down the road (his parents also came...).

I wore a pair of shoes I got a couple of months ago, but until now it hadn't been warm enough to brave "bare" feet. They're from Reiss here, and are the perfect Spring shoe. I got them as I've got quite a few weddings this summer (two in Italy, sob) and they're perfect for wearing all day - not too high, block heel and comfortable. As a major plus they also look good with jeans and a t shirt, as I decided to do... Personally I think shoes like these are worth an investment but if cash is tight these ASOS ones are very similar...

My cargo jacket is an oldie but a goodie from Topshop, you can still buy it here. Always a good sign when stores have to repeat the same style. I had completely forgotten about it, but found it last week and have been living in it ever since. Another good place to track things like this down is Urban Outfitters, I love this and this. They're really good for this time of year as you can throw it on and not be too cold/hot...

The jeans have been around for a while too, from Paige Denim. I spotted them on a street style photo a couple of years ago and spent a good half day (whilst in full time work, oops) hunting them down. They were a limited edition but the brand have done similars here, or try these as cheaper options from Topshop (they have kept them going in shorts-form too here). The tee is from Reiss, as are most of my basics (that or James Perse) and you can find them here... 

Oh and the bag. Having had an alert set on Vestiaire Collective for over a year, I was having a bit of a bad day over a fortnight ago when this popped up. Usually they cost around £500 on there, but this was just over £300 as it's got a teeny scratch on the inside (blink and you'd miss it). I've always wanted a Neverfull so am delighted with it... Not sure about you but the long weekend could not have come soon enough. I did have plans to go away, but annoyingly was tied to London for the whole holiday. So, we decided to be tourists in our own town and headed into Mayfair on Friday for some lunch. We started off at Brown Hart Gardens (a little hidden gem a block down from Selfridges. The sun was shining, the sunglasses were out - all in all, being at home seemed very much ok...

There is no question that suede jackets are in at the moment. I've had my eye on Millie's one here for weeks. The lovely team at Jaegar sent me this one and I thought I'd give it a test. I wasn't sure about the colour at first but actually its great and stands out a little, but not too much. It looks great denim, and varies from appearing green and grey. Butter soft too.


I've decided I want to make more of an effort to wear colour, without breaking away from my capsule stuff. As you can see, I'm still in my faithful Breton (this one is from Boden, here) and jeans (from Paige Denim, the absolute best, here) but I'm trying to break away from simple things like wearing brown leather rather than black, and pops of colour in my accessories...

Enough about me and my clothes as I want to give a proper mention to our lunch venue, 8 Mount Street. Tucked away in the peaceful red bricked Mayfair streets, you wouldn't believe you were second from the busiest high street in the world. The restaurant is fairly new, and as the weather was so good we sat outside after having a proper nose of their bar and outside mint garden...


We let the staff choose our meal for us, as I normally do when reviewing a place. I'd heard about their savoury creme brulee starter but wasnt quite prepared for how amazing it was going to be... Equally the beetroot and goats cheese salad and the burrata were out of this world. There was no way we could have finished it (in truth one starter will serve two people comfortably) as we had poussin and dover sole for main courses - before the grand finale of their "apple, apple, apple" dessert; apple mousse, apple tarts and apple crumble. It really is worth a visit and I really do recommend you do. It feels special without feeling ostentatious and the staff were absolutely lovely.


We then met up with some friends and giggled over how cheeky it felt doing so little on a "work day." With the sun being out, London was gorgeous and after a few weeks of solid grey/rain it reminded me how much I do love living in the capital.  I hope you have a wonderful Easter break, whatever you are doing, and that it helps you hit the reset button - as that's my goal for the weekend.
