Bimba y Lola Equipment Fat Face Fendi outfit post Topshop

Bolton House

Monday, 5 December 2016
Some of you remember a few months ago I went to Berlin with Emma for a quick 48 hour trip? Those who followed our Instagrams (mine here) will know that I completely and utterly lost myself shopping in the city. Who knew it would be so good? I certainly didn't! One of the stores I went to was called April 1st (which is the perfect example of what boutique shopping should be) and spotted an Equipment blouse of dreams - jungle print and super soft. Not every one's taste I'm sure but I was head over heels.

More fool me, I decided not to buy it. It was 35 degrees when we visited and it was long sleeved... It was quite expensive too and me being me thought I could outsmart the market and find it cheaper at home. Well... I was wrong. I scoured the internet for days, weeks and months. I had alerts up on Farfetch, Lyst and ShopStyle, the works. Nothing. My sister works for an online retailer and I had her going through the systems for signs for a jungle print shirt. No luck.

So I bit the bullet and emailed the store back in Berlin. A few weeks later, my credit card a few pounds lighter and a brownie-point-earning sister earning her keep, here it is in all it's glory. As I said, this isn't for everyone and I'm sure half of you would go mad if you knew how much I spent on it... It's probably best if I direct those of you who do like to a super similar one I found at Bimba y Lola here, and a paler version here.

I'm wearing mine in the way I always style printed shirts/tops = with jeans, boots and a jacket. The "jacket" in this instance is my everlasting fur gilet from Iris and Ink (a hero purchase last season you can still buy one incredibly similar here) which gets so much wear at this time of year. My jeans are my staple Topshop mom jean which you can find here and my sunglasses are Fendi (again! becoming a bit of an obsession!) here...

Monday, 18 July 2016

Last week I was having a rummage through my photos and realised I never posted this outfit! These were taken on my weekend away with the girls back in May and I remember thinking "it's too cold to post these now for the UK" and then obviously it slipped my mind. We were walking through Marrakech in the baking heat trying to find the main square. Emma and Lindsey had never been and I wanted to see their faces when they saw the snake charmers and the dentist (who has a little stall, you choose your replacement tooth, he knocks yours out and shoves the other one in - yep, really).

Sadly as we are idiots we didn't find it. In fact I'm pretty sure we just walked around in a circle, got too hot so went back to the safety of our hotel. However, we did stop to take some pictures. I'd just bought this shirt and was questioning the investment. I'd ummed and ahhed over it for weeks and weeks; I love green shirts as it's basically a staple colour and looks great with all my blues, greys and blacks.

Two months on I can confirm it's one of the smartest buys I've ever made. I love Equipment, but have only ever bought their silks before... As this is a linen blend it's very lightweight. The criss cross detail means it looks great thrown over a bikini, or if you want to wear it at home you can tighten it up or wear a vest underneath. Buy it here.

The shorts and shoes are this year's summer staples and I apologise for the constant feature in my feed! I'd been hunting for the perfect denim shorts for months - in fact make that years. I finally found them at Topshop which is fantastic as they didn't break the bank. Find them here - and they come in various shades of denim here. The shoes are from Havaianas here and are fantastic as they're made from flip flop material but are espadrilles. I have a couple of pairs now and on holiday I really don't need anything else... They're also excellent for late night dog walking ;)

Chelsea In Bloom

Friday, 3 June 2016
I'm not sure what has happened to the weather today but in truth there is a part of me that isn't disappointed not to be getting my legs out this week. I've managed to pick up a cold (in June!?) and have been feeling pretty sorry for myself all week, bleurgh. We move house on Monday and having cleared out all my cupboards (I've been threatened with being allowed 15 pairs of shoes, he has no idea where I'm hiding them) I found these, my white jeans. I wore them when out in Chelsea for the flower show last week...

White denim gets a lot of stick. There was a time that it was thought you had to be a teeny, tiny size to be able to wear them. I go through phases of love vs hate (I worry about looking too K-Middy, not helped by her Breton-wearing-ways most recently) but at the moment I'm finding them perfect to wear with shirts and tees. Mine are from Paige Denim (my go-to denim brand) here, but if you havent tried the look before I'd recommend testing out a cheaper pair - these ASOS ones are very good - or try a "boyfriend style," I have these.

My shirt is an oldie but a goodie from Zara here. Khaki shirts are my favourite thing at the moment, I'm having to stop myself from buying this one from Topshop and maaaaay have slipped up and acquired this cross front one from Equipment (blog post to come). They go with everything, in particular all my denim for summer and also look great under a dark coloured jacket (this Reiss one is firmly on my wishlist, really hoping it goes into sale) for evening looks...

My shoes are from LK Bennett here and I'm in love with them. They're the "Floret" shape that I've been wearing for years and (apologies to long time readers of the blog) are in my humble opinion the best heel on the market. I have little feet so heels are tricky as they stretch my arches more than somebody with regular sized hooves. Therefore heels are uncomfortable and I can't usually wear them for more than a few hours. However, these ones are the best (I can do a whole day and night in them, easily) and here is a link to the entire range. I picked these ones because I want to wear them with a little red dress to one of the weddings this summer, but I couldn't wait and they seemed fitting for the flower show!

Other bits and pieces include the bag (a long awaited Vestiaire Collective purchase, I kept an eye on the site for months) from Louis Vuitton which I'm so pleased with - somehow is being second hand also makes me less shy about wearing it all the time, I'm not as worried about scratching it etc... The sunnies are new from Fendi, I went to see them last week and picked up a few pairs for Italy, so excited. Just a house move to get out of the way, and then we're off!

So Underwear Is Out

Saturday, 5 March 2016
After a very hectic week I'm sat next to the fire at my parents' house and do not intend to move for the rest of the day. Lopez is at my feet and I'm spending the afternoon updating my Pinterest and planning blog posts, both things have been a little neglected of late. Having spied my way through some recent street style snaps I've noticed a bit of a trend for wearing camisoles as "outerwear." By that I mean, in place of a vest top.

image: Pernille Teisbaek / tuxedo blazer, here / blue jeans, here / camisole, here (amazing find)

I can remember this trend the first around (showing my age). I have a vivid memory of Myleene Klass being snapped in one, and recall desperately stalking ASOS (as seen on screen as it was then) to find out where she got it from..! I don't particularly like my arms so rarely wear vests unless I'm on holiday (when I live in Tibi camis), but having seen the above image of Pernille Teisbaek in hers I realised if I paired them up with my jeans and blazers they could actually look really cool...

camisole, here / handbag, here / patent brogues, here / white trousers, here / black jacket, here

Camisoles don't all look like underwear, so don't be too put off if you're a bit of a prude (like me). These ones from Iris and Ink are a really good start. The only thing I'm a bit of a stickler for is quality; I can't stand that synthetic looking "silk" - it doesn't hang properly, and therefore doesn't fit well. This doesn't mean you need to spend a huge amount, you can find some good bargains at the moment like these from J Crew which are half price (the light blue and the dust grey are my favourites). Similarly these from And Other Stories, and these from Skin are really good finds... However the best and most surprising find was this from Next. £20!!!

My Edit:

to view the edit turn off you're ad blocker, or use these links: 1. black Protagonist at Net A Porter / 2. grey Equipment at Net A Porter (cashmere) / 3. light blue, J Crew / 4. black with feathers, Tibi at Net A Porter / 5. green Tibi at The OutNet / 6. black with lace, Next

More on the "investment" side of things Net A Porter is obviously a really good start. Old favourite names like Equipment have some goodies here and here (cashmere!), Tibi have some amazing new additions (this one with the feathers = its love) and then newer names to me like Protagonist have really good ones, this black one is gorgeous. Overall, it's definitely a look I'm going to be trying out for spring with my new black tuxedo blazer (from L.K Bennett, I'm obsessed).

I hope you guys have a wonderful, lazy weekend!
