Neither of us really plan outfits, we're busy people and relish putting on whatever is washed/available at the weekends. Both of us swear by the jeans-jacket-and-shirt mantra when we do have to dress up so we used this as a bit of an opportunity to try something new. We also thought we'd give coordinating a go, as unnoticeably as possible (I was desperate to do a Britney and Justin denim pairing, but he was less keen...).

My first pick was a classic I've been after for years. Everyone bangs on about J Crew cashmere and I'd never joined the party... Until now. My camel knit is butter-soft, I'll wear it with everything over Christmas for sure. They come in a gazillion colours but I picked camel/taupe as it goes with all my blues, blacks and greys - and looks super with denim. Find it here.
Now that I'm hooked, above is a selection of my favourite J Crew cashmere pieces. My one is here, I also love the grey version here. The black one is, for some unknown reason, half price in the sale here. Next for me will be a v-neck purchase. I really want to treat myself to this one (again in the sale) as I've got an outfit in my head with it over a blue denim shirt, black skinny jeans and heels. Thoughts? Lastly if you're after an entry-point price, this light blue turtleneck is less than £80...

My skirt is from a brand that I've never bought from before called Mes Demoiselles. The inspiration behind the collection is "Parisian, bohemian, traveller." Essentially Marant for cheaper... I thought I'd try wearing a maxi skirt in winter, they're usually something I reserve for sunshine to pair with vest tops. Not anymore, this is proving to be perfect. It's dress-up enough to look like you've made an effort, without being over done. Most importantly it's comfortable AF and in the sale so it's only £114 ... Find it here.

My shoes are from Jimmy Choo, and it's complete love. It takes a lot for me to venture away from my L.K.Bennett (which are so, so comfortable for my little feet) so if I'm endorsing heels, please know they really must be quite good. They're a classic shape and style, find them here. I was worried they were a bit Middleton-like but actually they go super well with everything and don't look stuffy at all on the foot. I'll own these for life...

Now to over to him... I've wanted him to get this jumper for bl**dy ages. It's from Club Monaco, a brand I think really doesn't get enough attention. It's part of the Ralph Lauren group and didn't really launch in the UK till last year when it's flagship store opened in London. All their stuff is amazingly good (see the womens here, and mens here). Gus is a "I'll buy them in bulk from Uniqlo" kind of shopper so spending this amount on a knit took some doing. Given that it hasn't left his body since it arrived, I'm guessing he feels it was worth the investment. It's excellent for cuddling in too, as a side. Find it here.
Above are a few of my favourite mens' bits from Club Monaco, incase you were searching for a gift still... This denim shirt is gorgeously soft, but super well fitted (I don't mean "tight" when I say that, I mean as it actually fits the shoulders). This cardigan is actually more like a bomber jacket as it's so warm; a really good buy for anyone who wants to invest in a couple of good staples but doesn't want to go too fashion. Lastly this jumper reminds me of Jude Law in The Holiday so I'm hoping that memory stays in place when I see someone (Gus, duh) in it...

He picked himself a pair of Grenson Chelsea Boots which he's always wanted, here. I tease him for how "city boy on a weekend" they are but actually I really like them. Before now he's always had cheapies that he replaces every few months, again I think he's learning this isn't really the way forward. Pay peanuts, get monkeys... They'd be a solid present for someone who likes a classic (go half a size down, they come up big). Find them here.

The scarf is the all-star purchase. I haven't told him how much it was, yet. I made him get it because I want to wear it too... It's a proper "gift" - a proper treat of a present. Sticking with the idea of peanuts and monkeys this is a billion times better than any high street equivalent. It's so warm you can almost forgo a coat when wearing it. I've got my eye on the camel coloured version, although I know he'd pinch it as he's addicted to his one. Find the navy one here, be warned - they sell out fast...

Followers of my Instagram here will know I've been away as it was blasted out as much as possible. I'm not even sorry; we'd been waiting for this holiday since Christmas and it was even better than I anticipated. Over the next couple of weeks I'll pop more details about our travels through Sicily, Amalfi, Tuscany and Rome but for now here is a quick post about a pit stop we made in Ravello on our way down to the Amalfi Coast.

When we first arrived, we were a little haggered after an overnight ferry trip from Palermo to Naples. The winding roads of Amalfi didn't make for the easiest journey, so we peeled ourselves out of the car and made a run for the nearest source of cold beer...

After a couple of drinks we finally felt our shoulders go down and relax. Finally, we were on holiday. We sat and watched the locals put the world to rights as only Italians can do... Popping from cafe to restaurant to bar all over the town we made the walk down to Villa Cimbrone. This was somewhere firmly on the list of places to see for us, having watched Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan sit on the terrace there during The Trip TV Series...
We were not disappointed, despite the walk (girls, do not even think about taking heels to Amalfi!) down what felt like 1000 back streets, mainly uphill. I had possibly one of the best gin and tonics I'd ever tasted with cracked pepper and cucumber in.

Ooh and the outfit! I'd been pining to wear this Topshop dress ever since I bought it. The weather in the UK just hasn't been kind enough... The detail on the sleeves, the floaty shape... I just love it. Topshop have done a few dresses like this, the blue and white version here has been a bestseller for them so they followed it up with my one here and a polka dot one here.
The shoes are from Mango, and a total steal. They are incredibly similar to the Chloe designer ones, but only £24 in the sale... And I really can vouch for them being comfortable, I wore them to death on holiday. Get yours here.

We loved this town so much we ended up going back for an impromptu night at Hotel Caruso, which ended up being the showstopper of the entire holiday. More to come! For all outfit details, see the base of this post...

We decided to go and see what all the fuss was about and visit Soho Farmhouse for the day. It took us about an hour and half from London, and as soon as we arrived I could understand the surge of Instagram posts that occurred when this place opened. Having been to quite a few of the houses, Farmhouse is in a different league of amazingness... We sat outside in the (surprisingly) warm sunshine and played boules and table tennis. The Yeti (aka Lopez) came along for the ride too, who had a great time bombing around the huge estate.
ps - Farmhouse is largely dog friendly but they can't go in the main eating house or the spa, which Lopez was pretty miffed about...
As much as the bloody Marys in the Den were tempting, we wanted to "celebrate" by getting some serious rest and relaxation... After testing out the outdoor hot tubs (photo below) we went for a dip which was incredibly cool - you can swim outside from the inside pool. We were only swimming for half an hour or so, but following a steam and a sauna we felt like we'd been on a week long retreat. Following that we were pretty peckish so head over to the main restaurant to see what the roast dinners were like...
Annnnd here you go, looks terrible doesn't it?! I jest... Soho House roast dinners are one of my favourite things; they aren't shy with the meat quantities or the cauliflower cheese (I'm now on the FODMAP diet, so even writing about this is killing me).
After that, it was time to collect the dog and go back to London... We had such a good time celebrating our "birthday" and had no idea how easy it was to get to from us - as lovely as it would be to stay there, people in London (as members) can easily get up there for the day. Thoroughly recommend it, details here.

Birthday Celebrations with Mr Porter
A couple of weeks ago we found ourselves in a bit of a slump. You know when you get so bogged down with work, there is no time for play? Well, we had that. So when Mr Porter got in touch and asked if we'd like to celebrate our joint birthdays (my little blog and their site were launched on the same day - I feel this will be noted in history as a monumental date for online fashion...) and offered a "birthday present" for the boy, we couldn't say no...

I took the reins and chose his gifts; picking out a Burberry Trench from their coat selection, and a pair of Grenson brogues here. It did make me laugh that for five years of running the blog he gets the gifts, but it's two less presents for me to have to buy him as he's always wanted both pieces... I will definitely be pinching the trench too - it's such a classic and felt like a really good "achievement purchase." We originally wanted the taupe version here but they sell out in seconds on Mr Porter so settled on the black, and actually it looks better than our first choice (in my humble opinion).

Feeling incredibly full and incredibly relaxed we booked ourselves into Farmhouse's cinema to see The Hateful Eight (which was very good, but not enough Channing Tatum and very sad when he gets his head blown off). As an Electric Cinema it obviously was a bit more special than the average experience with enormous chairs, cashmere throws and big glasses of wine on flow. I think we both had a snooze half way, which is no reflection on our thoughts on the film...
