This month's beauty post is dedicated to the men in our lives. Today (in the UK) is Fathers Day and if yours is anything like mine, they have everything. Buying for someone who would like nothing more than a day spent is a power drill in the garage with the cricket on the radio is pretty tough. Which is why when Mr Porter offered their grooming box as a gift it was a complete blessing in disguise. Dad does actually care about his beauty regime, not that he'd ever call it that. We lived with him for a couple of months between houses this year and I noticed his bathroom cupboard was stacked with products that were actually being used.

Admittedly I'd imagine Mum is responsible for the change - she's a fiend for a beauty cream. Regardless the grooming box made the perfect gift, but wasn't handed over before I had a thorough nosey through it. Have to say, I'm seriously impressed by the selection for the price. Here are a few of my top favourites:

  • All men are trying to keep all their strands firmly in place, healthy and strong. In a handy travel size, Bumble and bumble's Thickening Shampoo will add body with every wash – the fortifying formula is blended with moisturising Aloe Vera, Silk Powder and Wheat Protein to build fullness
  • I am already an avid user of this Malin and Goetz's Grapefruit Face Cleanser. It's blended with natural Grapefruit Extract and Amino Acids to gently cleanse and hydrate without irritating.
  • This is the kind of thing I could never persuade Dad to buy, but if I left it in the bathroom it would be used every day! Baxter of California's Exfoliating Body Bar is made with Pumice, Jojoba Meal and crushed Olive Seeds to refresh your complexion - and is really good for those who work in town as it removes daily toxins...
  • This stuff is perfect for Dad as he spends days hours at weekends standing in the sun either gardening or playing crocket; Providing protection from the sun's harmful rays, Clinique For Men's Broad Spectrum Moisturizer absorbs quickly to intensely soothe and hydrate
  • This stuff smells funny but it's awesome: Perricone MD's Cold Plasma is an "elixir" (fancy word for "gel") designed to combat wrinkles, dryness and enlarged pores
  • Lab SeriesFuture Rescue Repair Serum stimulates collagen production to detox and repair the skin, while reducing visible signs of ageing (which we all, not only Dads, need)
  • Quintessentially British (perfect for my Dad, sums him up) Czech and Speake's Oxford & Cambridge Hydrating Body Wash is an invigorating foaming cleanser infused with fresh notes of Lavender, Peppermint and Bergamot
  • Lastly, (and I pinched this as my one has just ran out, sorry Dad) ypu can boost your skin's defences against harmful environmental stressors with Ren Skincare's Flash Defence Anti-Pollution Mist

You get all of the above and more (see picture) for £75, which is incredible when you consider even just the items I mentioned are well over £100... Whats additionally good is the majority of the products are small enough to take on board a flight and comes with a handy little transparent wallet... So when Dad goes off on his vacay (Majorca, same every year) he has no excuse not to keep this up...
